Downes Bowl

Below Zero today. Most of the ground was completely frozen and cracking under me as I rode. Although there were still some mudholes that were rather liquid.

The day was sunny and bright, but short - getting dark by 3:30pm. The lack of leaves on the trees made it unusually bright on these trails.

I realized I need to modify my clothing somewhat for cold-weather riding. My lower body was fine, dressed warmly but I wasn't sweating. But my upper body was dressed a little too light for the weather, and sweating nonetheless. And my ears and cheeks were just plain cold.

I think I need to wear more upper layers, and bring a knapsack to stow some of them as I warm up. And a neck-warmer or scarf would alleviate the cold ears.

I only rode here for 20 minutes today (that's the beauty of this spot), since my family was with me and was too cold.
